Kazu Cone Pendant Lamp — triple stacked Tyvek cones, red loop, fine tension wires.
Three shallow conical discs — each formed from Tyvek, a technical paper material with the texture of handmade paper and the durability of woven fabric — are stacked concentrically and held in precise separation by fine steel tension wires. A single red lacquer ring sits above the uppermost cone at the wire junction, a deliberate interruption of pure white: a full stop of colour in a composition of restraint. The cones diffuse the bulb into a soft, planar wash of light downward and outward simultaneously. Available in ∅ 75 and ∅ 100 cm.
Tyvek — what it is and why it is used here
Tyvek is a DuPont engineered material made from high-density polyethylene fibres bonded without weaving — it has the visual softness of paper and the light-diffusing properties of fabric, but is tear-resistant, moisture-resistant, and dimensionally stable under heat. For a large pendant shade like the Kazu, Tyvek holds its form under the weight of three stacked cones without warping or yellowing over time. Minor surface variation and texture differences between the three cone layers are natural characteristics of the material.
The red ring is intentional. The lacquered red loop at the wire junction is the only colour in an otherwise pure white composition — a deliberate design accent that references the Japanese aesthetic tradition of a single contrasting element as a focal point. It is not a hardware fitting or a standard part; it is part of the design.

Compatible with LED and Edison filament bulbs. A warm-white LED at 2700–3000 K is recommended — the warm tone passes softly through the Tyvek cone layers and diffuses outward as a broad, planar warm glow. A frosted globe or standard A-shape E26/E27 LED at 8–12W provides comfortable, even illumination through the large shade diameter. Avoid cool white (5000K+), which reads harshly through the white Tyvek and reduces the ambient warmth that defines this lamp's character.

What is Tyvek and why does it work for a lamp shade?
Tyvek is a brand name for a spunbonded olefin material made by DuPont — essentially an extremely fine, dense web of polyethylene fibres bonded by heat without weaving. It looks and feels like high-quality Japanese washi paper but is significantly more durable: it is tear-resistant, does not yellow with heat, repels moisture, and holds its structural form without sagging over time. These qualities make it ideal for a large suspended cone shade where thin, light-diffusing material needs to maintain its shape under its own weight and the warmth of a bulb.
Can the red ring be removed or replaced with a different colour?
The red loop is part of the lamp's structural system — it sits at the tension wire junction where the cone layers are held in suspension. It is not easily removable without disassembling the lamp's tension system. The red colour is a deliberate design choice and is not offered in other colours as a standard option. If you would prefer a fully white version without the red accent, contact us before ordering to discuss whether a custom configuration is available.
How does light travel through the three stacked cones?
The single E26/E27 bulb sits at the centre of the uppermost cone. Light radiates outward and downward from the bulb. The upper cone diffuses the light through its Tyvek surface; the light that passes below the first cone then strikes the second cone from above, diffusing again; and so on through the third. Each layer softens and distributes the light further. The result is a broad, planar downward wash that is extremely even — no hotspot, no visible source — while light that escapes between the cone edges provides lateral ambient glow around the lamp.
Is the Kazu certified for North America and Europe?
Yes. It holds certifications compatible with North America, Saudi Arabia, Europe, and Australia and operates on AC 110–240V worldwide.

What size Kazu Cone should I choose for my dining table?+
The 29.5″ diameter suits 4-seat tables; the 39.4″ diameter works for 6-seat dining. Both hang at 17.7″ height. For custom sizing or confirmation, contact our atelier directly.
What bulb should I use, and can I use an LED?+
Use a warm-white LED or Edison filament bulb at 2700–3000 K, 8–12W, with E26 or E27 base (not included). Cool white reads harshly through the white Tyvek. Both LED and filament bulbs are compatible.
How do I clean the Tyvek shade?+
Tyvek is tear-resistant and moisture-resistant. Dust gently with a soft cloth. For deeper cleaning, consult the installation guide or contact our atelier for material care recommendations.
Can the cable length be adjusted?+
The standard cable is 59″ and adjustable. We can extend it on request—contact our atelier to discuss your ceiling height and desired hanging length.
Is the red ring a design feature or replaceable hardware?+
The red lacquer loop is a deliberate design accent, referencing Japanese aesthetic tradition. It is integral to the composition, not a replaceable part.
