What finish and leaf color options are available?

Are there glue marks visible on the porcelain leaves?

Slight glue marks at leaf-to-branch joints are normal and necessary for stability. From normal viewing distance, they disappear into the silhouette and don't affect appearance once installed.

Is professional installation required?

Yes, hardwired installation requires a licensed electrician and junction box. Large sizes (30+ bulbs) need 2+ installers. Branches ship folded; gently fan them out by hand at install to reach listed dimensions.

What is each leaf made of?

Real hand-cast porcelain. No two leaves are identical because each is shaped and finished by hand. Slight glue marks at leaf-to-branch joints are normal and invisible from normal viewing distance.

Each leaf begins as raw clay. Master sculptors shape the distinctive bilobed ginkgo form by hand, carving the characteristic veins and curvature that give each leaf its living quality.

Mold Making

Precision plaster molds are cast from the master sculpt. Each mold preserves the exact weight, thickness, and surface detail of the original — ensuring every leaf in a commission matches perfectly.

Kiln Firing

Formed leaves are carefully dried then fired in a high-temperature kiln. The ceramic body becomes hard, dense, and uniquely translucent — allowing the warm glow of the light source to soften through each leaf.

Grinding & Polishing

Each fired leaf is ground and hand-polished to a smooth, silk-matte finish. The edges are refined, the surface inspected, and any imperfection addressed — before the leaf is approved and assembled onto the brass armature.
