Inspirée par la tradition japonaise de la lampe Akari de 1951 — la lampe de table Xuanzhi utilise du papier de mûrier fait à la main qui adoucit la lumière en une lueur douce et uniforme. Comme les lanternes en bambou des pêcheurs qui ont inspiré le design original, elle transforme n'importe quel espace avec une présence chaleureuse et sereine.

« Les pêcheurs utilisaient des lanternes pour attirer le poisson — des armatures en bambou recouvertes de papier fin. Pour cette lampe, du papier de mûrier est utilisé, car il adoucit la lumière, la rendant douce et la diffusant uniformément. »

Pourquoi y a-t-il des traces de colle au bord de l'abat-jour ?

L'abat-jour est fabriqué à la main selon un procédé d'assemblage papier et colle. Les légères traces de colle le long des bords sont une caractéristique normale de ce travail artisanal — ce n'est pas un défaut de qualité.

Fibres are beaten into pulp and suspended in water. A bamboo screen is dipped through the suspension, capturing an even, translucent layer of future paper.

Drying & Finishing

Sheets are carefully pressed and sun-dried on wooden boards. The result: paper of singular softness, strength, and warm translucency.

Frame Building & Wrapping

A bamboo or wood armature is assembled by hand. Washi sheets are layered, stretched, and shaped around the frame to form the lantern.

Hand-Painted Motifs

Artisans apply traditional patterns — brushstrokes of ink, botanical motifs, geometric forms — directly onto the washi surface. No two are identical.
