The inspiration for this collection was born from the glamour of Old Hollywood mixed with the organic beauty of nature. We looked at the gentle sway of botanicals and the plush textures of Art Deco interiors.
We wanted to capture the concept of "frozen movement." Feathers are naturally dynamic; they catch the air and hold light in a way that glass and fabric cannot. The goal was to design a fixture that didn't just emit light, but diffused it through a soft, textured filter, mimicking the glow of the golden hour.
The Sketch: Designing "Frozen Movement"
Every great design begins with a simple line on paper. The initial sketches focused on the silhouette—ensuring the "foliage" of the feathers felt abundant without being heavy. We experimented with the curvature of the stand to mimic the slender elegance of a natural stem.
Creating the perfect lighting fixture
After sketching the outline on paper, we began 3D modeling to design the lamp itself. This stage was crucial for perfecting the brass – the brass base is the central hub for securing the feathers. By digitally calibrating the arrangement of the feather slots, we optimized the physical structure, allowing the feathers to be secured at the required precise angle. This design ensures that the brass lamp body can support a seamless, full lampshade, giving the lamp a balanced and sculptural form.
Craftsmanship: Handmade with Solid Brass
Bringing these visuals to life requires a delicate touch. This collection cannot be fully automated; each piece is handmade in our Chinese studio.
