The Gravitas Lumina Pendant combines two materials that speak different languages. The cylindrical body is genuine travertine stone, surface-finished in matte black to achieve a deep, uniform dark aesthetic — its natural pore structure and weight still present beneath the finish. A disc of dark walnut wood encircles the upper portion, providing a warm organic contrast. Together they cast a focused downward glow over dining tables, kitchen islands, or wherever raw material and precision meet.
About the black travertine — genuine natural stone with a matte black surface finish
The body of this pendant is made from genuine travertine stone. To create a deep, even black aesthetic, the stone surface is finished with a matte black coating — rather than left in its natural off-white state. This is an intentional design choice: the weight, density, and natural pore structure of genuine travertine are preserved, while the surface colour is controlled. The entire stone presents a consistent matte black — this is exactly as it was designed to be.

Travertine is formed in the natural environment through thousands of years of complex physical and chemical processes. Even beneath the black surface, the pore distribution and stone characteristics of each piece remain entirely unique.

Is the black colour on the travertine body natural?
No — and this is intentional. The body is genuine travertine stone, but its surface is finished with a matte black coating to achieve the dark, uniform aesthetic of the design. Natural travertine is typically off-white or amber in colour. The black finish is applied to the real stone to create the striking contrast with the walnut disc. The weight, density, and pore structure of the travertine remain authentic beneath the finish.
Why does this look different from natural stone?
The matte black surface coating covers the stone's natural veining and colour variation, resulting in a consistent deep black appearance. This is the designed look — raw material with a controlled surface. If you are looking for visible natural stone veining, this product is not the right fit.
