Honeycomb Travertine Ceiling Lamp — Yellow Travertine & Wood, GX53, 10 Configurations

Interlocking hexagonal cells — each framed in solid wood with a walnut-tone finish and inset with a panel of yellow travertine — mount flush to the ceiling in a flat cluster 7.5 cm deep. When the GX53 disc light fires downward from inside each cell, the travertine's pores and veins absorb and redirect warmth back into the cavity, producing a soft amber-gold glow distributed evenly across each opening rather than a single point source. The configuration scales across ten layouts from a compact 3-cell grouping at 30 × 30 cm to a nine-cell array spanning 68 × 45 cm, covering everything from a bedside cluster to the primary light source in a mid-sized dining room. The depth of 7.5 cm keeps the ceiling profile low enough for standard ceiling heights.

Yellow travertine forms over geological time through mineral-rich water depositing layers of calcium carbonate. No two fixtures share identical stone faces — lighter panels, darker ones, tighter veins or broader channels are all within normal range for this material. The variation is the nature of the stone, not a defect.

Bulb Recommendation — GX53

GX53 LED disc, 2700–3000K warm white, 5–7W per cell. GX53 is a two-pin twist-lock base specific to flat disc-shaped modules — do not substitute with standard E26/E27 or G9 bulbs. A 2700K or 3000K warm white source brings out the amber-gold character of the travertine panels; cooler colour temperatures (4000K+) shift the stone's tone grey and reduce the warm-glow effect. GX53 LED discs are widely available at hardware stores and online. For a 9-light fixture, budget for 9 bulbs; each cell takes one.

What is the difference between A and B configurations?

The A configurations arrange the hexagonal cells in a more square or clustered grouping — the overall footprint is wider in both dimensions, which works well over a dining table or as a central ceiling piece in a room. The B configurations stack the cells in a more elongated, linear strip — narrower in width but longer, which suits a hallway, a kitchen run, or a space where a horizontal line of light works better than a cluster. Both A and B share the same 7.5 cm ceiling depth and the same GX53 light source per cell.

How does the travertine look when the light is off versus on?

Unlit, the fixture reads as a sculptural object — the matte travertine panels show their natural amber, sand, and cream tones against the walnut wood frame. When lit, the GX53 disc behind each panel sends light through the stone's pores and up through the cell cavity, producing a warm amber-gold glow that makes the stone's veining visible in a different way. The effect shifts noticeably between day and night use.

Where do I find GX53 bulbs, and how many do I need?

You need one GX53 LED disc per cell — so a 5-light configuration takes 5 bulbs, a 9-light takes 9. GX53 is a flat two-pin twist-lock base; it is not interchangeable with E26, E27, or G9. LED versions are available on Amazon, at IKEA (Ledare range historically uses GX53), and at most electrical supply stores. Look for 5–7W, 2700–3000K warm white for best results with the travertine.

Is the Honeycomb compatible with a dimmer switch?

The fixture itself is compatible with common push switches; dimming depends on whether your chosen GX53 LED disc is dimmable. Not all GX53 LEDs support dimming — check the bulb packaging before purchasing if dimming is important. If your GX53 is dimmable, pair it with a standard leading-edge or trailing-edge LED dimmer rated for the total wattage of all cells combined. For a 9-light fixture running 7W bulbs, that is 63W total — most standard dimmers handle this easily.

My travertine panels look different from the product photo — is that normal?

Yes, fully expected. Yellow travertine is a naturally formed stone; its veining, pore size, and base tone vary across every slab it is cut from. Some panels will run lighter and more uniform; others will carry heavier veining or larger pores. The product photo represents the general character and colour range of the stone. If there is a structural issue — cracking, a loose panel, or missing pieces — that is a manufacturing defect and we will resolve it. But differences in stone pattern from the photo are a normal property of natural travertine.
