Ceiling Fan Light Installation Guide
Fan Light Installation
& Troubleshooting
Everything you need to know about choosing the right size ceiling fan light, installing it correctly, and resolving the most common issues — from remote pairing to noise troubleshooting and motor care.
Finding the Right Size Fan for Your Space
Choosing the correct blade span is the single most important decision when purchasing a ceiling fan light. An undersized fan won't move enough air; an oversized one will feel overwhelming and reduce airflow efficiency. Follow these three steps.
Step 1 — Calculate Your Room Area
Measure the length and width of your room in feet, then multiply.
Step 2 — Match Your Room Area to Blade Span
| Room Size | Blade Span | Recommended Models |
|---|---|---|
| Under 90 sq ft | 22″ – 42″ | Small rooms, closets, nurseries |
| 90 – 100 sq ft | 44″ – 48″ | Bedrooms, home offices |
| 100 – 150 sq ft | 50″ – 54″ | Master bedrooms, dining rooms |
| 150 – 300 sq ft | 56″ – 70″ | Living rooms, open plans |
| 300+ sq ft | 70″ or multiple fans | Great rooms, commercial spaces |
Step 3 — Adjust for Ceiling Height
Our Full Size Range
We manufacture ceiling fan lights in the following blade span sizes (inches):
What You Need to Know Before You Order
Our ceiling fan lights are fully customizable. The specifications below apply to standard configurations — contact us to discuss custom sizes, finishes, blade counts, or lighting types.
How to Install Your Ceiling Fan Light
Proper installation is critical to safety, performance, and noise prevention. We strongly recommend hiring a licensed electrician with prior ceiling fan installation experience — improper installation is the root cause of most noise, wobble, and connectivity complaints.
Pre-Installation Checklist
Extension Rods (Downrods)
For recessed ceilings, coffered ceilings, or any installation where the fan cannot sit flush against the ceiling surface, an extension rod is required. Without sufficient downrod clearance, the fan blades will not generate airflow — they will simply spin inside the recess without moving air into the room.
Pairing Your Remote & Understanding Controls
Our ceiling fan lights use a 433MHz RF remote receiver (not IR). This means the remote does not need line-of-sight to function — but it also means nearby devices using the same frequency can occasionally interfere.
How to Pair the Remote
Pairing One Remote to Multiple Fans
To control two or more fan lights simultaneously with a single remote, repeat the pairing process for each fan while holding the remote in the same location. All fans paired to the same remote will respond to every command together.

Common Issues & How to Resolve Them
The vast majority of ceiling fan light issues fall into four categories: noise, lighting, motor/fan, and remote. Use the accordion below to find your specific symptom and its solution.
01 The fan makes a rattling or clicking noise during operation
- Turn off power and tighten all blade mounting screws firmly.
- Inspect each blade bracket — if any has bent during transit, straighten gently or contact us for a replacement bracket.
- Ensure blades are not making contact with the decorative shroud or any part of the motor housing.
02 Noise increases with fan speed — louder at higher settings
- Use a balancing kit (clip a small coin to the center of each blade, one at a time, until noise reduces) to identify the imbalanced blade.
- Check that all blades are installed at the same angle and height from the motor housing.
- Ensure all motor mounting screws are tight — vibration from a loose mount resonates louder at speed.
03 Unusual noise only at Speed 5 (highest speed)
- Balance the blades as described above.
- If the fan is large (60″+), slight wobble at maximum speed can be normal — operate at speed 4 for daily use.
04 Fan vibrates and causes a humming resonance in the ceiling
- Confirm mounting is on a solid structure (wood joist, concrete beam). Hollow gypsum ceilings will always transmit vibration.
- Add vibration-dampening washers between the canopy and ceiling bracket.
- Check that the ceiling box is flush and the canopy ring is not loose.
05 Light worked for one second after installation, then went out
- Turn off power and remove the light module.
- Inspect for any visible burn marks or broken pins.
- Replace with a compatible LED module or contact us to send a replacement — this is covered under warranty.
06 Fan works but light does not turn on at all
- Turn off power. Remove the light module and re-seat the connector — push firmly until it clicks.
- Test with a known-working LED module if available.
- If the connector is properly seated but the light still doesn't work, the LED module needs replacement.
07 Light flickers intermittently or starts flickering after 1–2 weeks
- Turn off power and check the LED driver connection first (loose connection can also cause flickering).
- If connections are secure and flickering persists, the LED driver module is defective and needs replacement.
- Contact us with your order number — we will send a replacement driver.
08 Light flickers approximately 30–40 seconds after the fan starts
- This is a warranty issue. Contact us with your order number and we will send a replacement driver.
- Ensure the light housing has adequate ventilation — do not install decorative covers that block heat dissipation.
09 I ordered warm white but want to upgrade to stepless dimming — is that possible?
- The LED light source module (CCT-compatible)
- The remote control and receiver (CCT-capable remote)
- The connecting wiring between driver and module
10 Fan has no airflow despite running at full speed
- Recessed ceiling: If installed inside a ceiling cavity without a downrod, the blades spin in the recess and cannot push air into the room. An appropriate extension rod is required.
- Blades installed in reverse: Blade brackets must angle upward toward the ceiling. If installed pointing downward, the blades will create minimal airflow. Turn off power, remove blades, and re-install in the correct orientation.
11 Fan suddenly stopped running after working for 1–2 weeks
- Is the wall switch turned on? (Most common reason.)
- Is there power at the ceiling outlet? Test with a voltage tester.
- Try re-pairing the remote (see § 04).
- If the remote's indicator light still works but the fan does not respond, the RF receiver inside the motor housing may have failed — contact us for a replacement receiver.
12 One of three fan motors in a multi-fan installation has noise; the other two are quiet
- Inspect the noisy fan: check for any blade-to-shroud contact and ensure all mounting hardware is tight.
- Check that the blade brackets on that unit haven't been bent during installation — compare with a quiet unit.
- If noise persists after inspection, the motor unit may have a manufacturing defect. Contact us with your order number for a warranty replacement of that specific motor.
13 Fan and light completely stopped after 10+ days — remote only beeps
- Confirm wall switch is on and there is power at the ceiling.
- Re-pair the remote (§ 04) — if the fan still doesn't respond after a fresh pairing, the receiver is defective.
- Contact us with your order number — receiver replacement is covered under our 2-year remote/receiver warranty.
14 Remote works sometimes but not consistently
- Replace the remote's batteries — even partially discharged batteries cause intermittent response.
- Ensure the wall switch is fully on (not partially tripped).
- Re-pair the remote from scratch (§ 04 pairing steps).
- If the issue persists with fresh batteries and a fresh pairing, the receiver may be failing intermittently — contact support.
15 Fan turns on by itself — especially at night
- Re-pair your remote. This resets the pairing code on the receiver to a new handshake ID.
- If the interference continues after re-pairing, contact us — we can supply a receiver with a different frequency channel.
16 Light works with wall switch but fan won't respond to remote at all; remote indicator light blinks
- Turn off power. Open the ceiling canopy and locate the motor plug connector.
- Disconnect and firmly re-seat the connector until it clicks into place.
- Restore power and re-pair the remote (§ 04).
- If the motor still doesn't respond, the receiver inside the motor may need replacement.
Keeping Your Fan Light Running Perfectly
A ceiling fan light that is well maintained will run quietly and reliably for a decade or more. These simple habits prevent the most common long-term issues.
Quick Answers to Common Questions

? What is the warranty coverage?
- Remote control & receiver: 2 years from date of delivery.
- Motor: 3 years from date of delivery.
? Can I use a smart home app to control the fan instead of the remote?
? My fan runs but produces almost no airflow — why?
- Recessed ceiling without a downrod: If the fan is installed inside a ceiling cavity, the blades spin within the recess and cannot push air downward. An extension rod is required to position the fan below the ceiling surface.
- Blades installed in reverse: Ceiling fan blades must be mounted with the bracket arm angling upward. If installed pointing downward, airflow is dramatically reduced. Re-install blades in the correct orientation.
