Travertine Cone Wall Sconce — Solid Yellow Travertine, Matte Black Backplate

A solid cone of natural yellow travertine carved from a single block, mounted on a matte black iron backplate that sits flush against the wall. A single G9 bulb concealed inside the cone casts warm downlight through the open base, with subtle glow filtering through the natural pits and pores in the stone. At W6.3 × H7.5 in (16 × 19 cm), 6.9 in (17.5 cm) projection from the wall, it suits bedroom nightside lighting, hallway and staircase wall lighting, bathroom vanity, and entryway accent walls in modern, japandi, wabi-sabi, and minimalist interiors.

Solid Travertine Cone

Carved from one block of natural yellow travertine.

Iron Backplate

Matte black powder-coated iron, mounts flush to the wall.

Warm Downlight

G9 bulb directs warm light through the open base.

Natural Stone Pores

Pits and pores let soft light filter through the shade.

G9 Bulb Socket

One G9 bulb. Replaceable from the open underside.

Hardwired Mount

Standard US junction box compatible. Electrician recommended.

About Natural Travertine

Each shade is cut from a unique block of natural yellow travertine. Vein patterns, color tone, and surface pits vary piece to piece — these are characteristics of the stone, not defects. The pits and pores are part of how travertine forms and are sealed but left visible.

Soft Pore Glow

When the light is on, you may see warm light glowing through some of the deeper pits in the stone. This is a natural property of travertine, not a crack or seam.

My sconce looks different from the photos — is that normal?

Yes. Every shade is cut from a unique block of natural travertine, so vein pattern, color tone, and pore distribution will differ from the product photos. This variation is the defining quality of natural stone — no two pieces are identical.

What rooms is this sconce suitable for?

Hallways, staircases, entryways, bedroom walls (beside the bed or above nightstands), bathroom vanities, and reading nooks. The warm downlight works well as accent lighting in living rooms and dining areas. Indoor only; suitable for dry and damp rooms but not for outdoor or wet locations.

Does it need an electrician to install?

Yes — this is a hardwired sconce and a licensed electrician is recommended. The iron backplate is compatible with standard US wall junction boxes.

What bulb does it use and is it dimmable?

One G9 bulb, not included. We recommend a 2700K warm-white G9 LED. Dimmable when paired with a dimmable G9 bulb and a Triac wall dimmer (sold separately).

Is this sconce certified for use in North America?

Yes. It is listed for North America and also holds CE (Europe), SAA (Australia), SASO (Saudi Arabia), and KC (Korea) certifications. Operates on AC 110–240V worldwide.

Sizing & questions

Every piece is made to order in our own atelier — here is what most clients ask before choosing theirs.

What size is this sconce and will it fit my space?+

W 6.3″ × H 7.5″ with 6.9″ wall projection. Its compact size suits bedroom nightstands, hallway corridors, bathroom vanities, and entryway accent walls. Vakkerlight can discuss custom sizing in our atelier if needed.

Will my travertine cone look like the photos?+

No. Each shade is carved from a unique block of natural travertine, so vein patterns, color tone, and pore distribution vary piece to piece. This natural variation is not a defect—it is the defining quality of the stone.

How do I install this sconce?+

It is hardwired to a standard US junction box. A licensed electrician is recommended. The iron backplate mounts flush to the wall and is compatible with a standard switch or Triac dimmer (not included).

How do I clean the travertine and is the G9 bulb replaceable?+

Dust the stone gently with a soft, dry cloth. The G9 bulb is replaceable from the open underside of the cone. Use a 2700K warm white G9 LED for best results with the stone's natural glow.

Can I use this in a bathroom or damp room?+

Yes, it is suitable for dry and damp indoor locations. It is not rated for direct water exposure or outdoor use. Avoid placing it directly above a bathtub or shower.

Know the Material

A stone that lets light through.

Alabaster is a soft, fine-grained mineral. Cut thin and polished, it turns light into an even, candle-warm glow — no glare, no hard edges.

  • i.

    Milk-white body

A soft, creamy white that warms the room, lit or unlit.

  • ii.

    Natural veining

Honey and grey veins that come alive when the lamp is lit.

  • iii.

    Smooth, cool surface

Hand-polished to a satin finish you can feel.

Variations in tone and veining are the signature of natural stone — not flaws. Your piece will be one of a kind.

From Stone to Lamp

Made slowly, by hand.

Every shade starts as a raw block and passes through skilled hands, shaped and finished one piece at a time.

One Stone, Many Characters

Choose your veining.

Alabaster comes from the earth in many moods — from clean milk-white to bold, dark veins. Pick the one that suits your room.

Natural stone varies from piece to piece — photos show the typical character of each texture.

Room by Room

Choose for the space.

Dining Room

Size the fixture to the table, not the room — a ring or linear globe pendant follows its shape and keeps light on the meal.

Hanging height: 30–36″ (76–91 cm) above the tabletop; fixture about ½–⅔ of the table width.

Living Room

The largest room takes the boldest piece — a ring or multi-globe chandelier scaled to the seating area.

Wall sconces: around 60–66″ (152–168 cm) from the floor to the centre of the shade.

Bedroom

Low ceilings and quiet evenings call for close-to-ceiling discs and small shades — the stone's glow is made for winding down.

Bedside sconces: 30–36″ (76–91 cm) above the mattress, 6–10″ outside the headboard edge.

Entryway

The first light guests see. A single globe pendant or a pair of sconces sets the tone at the door.

Clearance: keep at least 7 ft (213 cm) from floor to the bottom of the fixture; in two-storey foyers, hang it level with the upper window.

Size Guide

Find the right size.

Move the sliders to your room or table — we'll suggest a fixture size and hanging height.

These are designer rules of thumb. Every product page lists exact dimensions — or ask a designer to check your plan.
