A handmade paper pendant — ivory rice paper stretched over a metal frame, segmented by stained oak accent rings. The paper diffuses the bulb's light into an even ambient glow with a visible horizontal ribbing texture. Four model shapes (A, B, C, D) ranging from compact 16.5″ to tall 26.4″ — each model has its own silhouette. Choose by room scale and ceiling height. Black-oak or white-oak accent rings.

⚠ Paper care & safety — read before installing
1. The shade is real rice paper. It is durable in normal indoor use but is not waterproof. Avoid bathrooms, kitchens above stovetops (steam and grease), and direct contact with water or food. Do not wipe with a damp cloth — use a dry soft brush only.
2. Use a cool-running LED bulb only. The paper sits close to the heat source. Use ≤9W LED bulbs (≤60W incandescent equivalent); do not use halogen, incandescent above 60W, or any high-heat bulb. LED is non-negotiable for paper-shade longevity.

Model A — Tall Elongated
Tall vertical capsule. Works as a focal point above a tall console, in a stairwell, or anywhere the eye should travel upward.
Model B — Medium Dome
Balanced dome with subtle vertical proportion. The most versatile shape — works over dining tables, kitchen islands, breakfast nooks.
Model C — Tall Double-Stack
Most dramatic — two stacked sections divided by a contrasting oak ring. For high ceilings, foyers, and statement installations.
Model D — Compact Dome
Wider than tall — the softest, lowest-profile option. Best for spaces with 8–9 ft ceilings where vertical drop is limited.
Paper shade is ivory white across all models — only the oak ring finish is selectable.

- Hardwired ceiling install — licensed electrician recommended. Wall box (standard junction box) behind the canopy.
- The paper shade ships collapsed and expands during installation — gently pop the paper open along its horizontal ribs before securing to the frame. Two-person handling recommended for Models A and C to avoid pressing on the paper while wiring overhead.
- Bulb choice is critical: use only cool-running LED bulbs, ≤9W (60W incandescent equivalent). 2700K warm-white LED preserves the natural ivory paper tone. Halogen and high-wattage incandescent will yellow and brittle the paper over time.
- Indoor dry locations only. Not for bathrooms, kitchens above stovetops, or covered outdoor areas. Steam, grease, and humidity damage paper.
- Care: dust with a dry soft brush only. Never use a damp cloth or any liquid cleaner. For visible marks, light vacuuming with an upholstery attachment at low power can help.
Which model should I order — A, B, C, or D?
Model A (tall elongated) — focal point in stairwells or over a tall console with 10+ ft ceilings. Model B (medium dome) — the most versatile; over dining tables, islands, and breakfast nooks with 8–10 ft ceilings. Model C (tall double-stack) — dramatic statement piece for foyers, atriums, or high-ceiling rooms (10+ ft). Model D (compact dome) — best for low ceilings (8–9 ft) or where vertical drop is limited. What bulb does it use, and why is bulb choice so important?
E26 (NA/CA) or E27 (EU/AU) socket — LED only, ≤9W (60W incandescent equivalent). The paper shade sits close to the bulb; high-heat bulbs (halogen, incandescent over 60W) will gradually yellow and brittle the paper, voiding the warranty. 2700K warm-white LED is recommended — it preserves the ivory tone and runs cool. Look for LED bulbs explicitly labeled "low heat" or "energy-efficient."
How fragile is the paper shade in shipping and daily use?
The paper is real — it's not coated plastic. It is more durable than it looks (we've shipped thousands without issue) but it is paper. In shipping, the shade is collapsed flat for protection. In daily use, avoid touching the surface, water/steam exposure, or proximity to children or pets that may bat at it. Inspect on arrival — if any tear is visible, email info@vakkerlighting.com with photos within 7 days for a replacement shade.
Is it dimmable?
Yes — compatible with standard TRIAC (forward-phase) wall dimmers such as Lutron Caséta and Leviton, paired with a dimmable LED bulb. Dimming is recommended for ambient evening use — at full brightness the warm light is striking; dimmed to 30–40%, it reads as a candlelit lantern.
What's the warranty?
1-year warranty on the paper shade (limited to indoor dry use with LED bulbs ≤9W). 2-year warranty on the metal frame, oak rings, canopy, and wiring.
