The cover is white marble. The base and mounting hardware are iron and metal.

Yes, it works with standard wall dimmers that fit your existing switch box.

Which direction does the light go?

Light shines downward and outward from the G9 socket, suitable above nightstands, consoles, or anywhere you want a soft pool of light below the fixture.

What does installation require?

A licensed electrician must hardwire it to a wall box and switch circuit. The fixture itself is 12cm diameter, so standard wall depth is sufficient.

Good for small areas.

This works well in a smaller room (game room, TV center, night light, etc). For an average sized bedroom, it's a bit dim. But overall a pretty good unit. Relatively easy to install.
