Breathe in Nature, Woven in Light
Vakkerlight Artisan Collection

A fully handcrafted bamboo and rattan lighting collection — trading industrial coldness for the warmth of the mountains, the resilience of rattan, and soft, wabi-sabi light, brought home to you.

Woven in Time:
A Heritage Craft, Shaped by Hand

No machine can replicate a craftsman's feel for rattan tension. From splitting and scraping raw bamboo culms to the intricate interlacing of rattan strands, a single medium-sized bamboo lamp can take a master artisan several days to complete.

Not a drop of glue is used at the joints — only refined mortise-and-tenon joinery and hand-tied rattan knots. This is more than a lighting fixture; it is a dialogue between humanity and nature across time, carrying marks of life that can never be repeated.

*Note: The natural grain, subtle color variation, and hand-woven finishing marks on the bamboo and rattan surface are nature's gift and proof of craftsmanship — not imperfections.

Uncompromising Natural Materials

THE VAKKERLIGHT STANDARD

The Vakkerlight Standard

Five-Year Mountain Bamboo & Indonesian Rattan

We select mature bamboo grown at high altitude for five years or more as the frame, prized for its exceptional strength. The woven surface uses natural Indonesian rattan that develops a warm patina with age and light exposure.

Deep Physical Carbonization

Each piece undergoes rigorous high-temperature, high-pressure steaming and physical carbonization dehydration — thoroughly mold- and insect-resistant with zero chemical treatment, built to last for years to come.

Cheap Market Alternatives

Cheap PE Plastic Faux Rattan

Distinctly plastic and lifeless. It often gives off an odor under light exposure and quickly grows brittle with age, losing any sense of premium home décor quality.

Untreated Low-Grade Bamboo

Manufacturers skip the complex steaming and carbonization process to cut costs. In humid environments, it quickly blackens, molds, or attracts insects — a serious hygiene risk in the home.

Forged by Nature and Craftsmanship

Every lamp is born from hundreds of meticulous steps. This is not mere manufacturing — it is a discipline.

Mountain Harvest & Splitting

Premium mature bamboo is harvested only in specific seasons, then hand-split by veteran artisans into evenly sized strips. The green outer skin is scraped away, leaving only the toughest inner layer to form the lamp's frame.

High-Temperature Carbonization

The raw bamboo and rattan are steamed and carbonized in specialized high-pressure kilns, eliminating sugars and insect larvae while locking in their natural color.

Woven Warp and Weft

Bypassing the modern assembly line, artisans use time-honored techniques to weave rattan strands through the bamboo frame by hand. Every knot demands precise strength and experience.

Nature's Brush of Light and Shadow

The true magic of bamboo and rattan lighting reveals itself the moment it's switched on. The irregular woven lattice acts as a natural filter, casting a dreamlike cascade of dappled, geometric light and shadow across your space.

100% Natural & Eco-Friendly

Renewable plant fibers, zero plastic added

Handcrafted by Artisans

Heritage weaving technique — every piece is one of a kind

Insect- & Moisture-Resistant

Deep high-temperature carbonization for lasting durability

Soft, Eye-Friendly Light

Woven gaps filter harsh glare for warm, comfortable ambiance

It illuminates the space perfectly without any glare. The bamboo strips filter the light so evenly.

No rough edges or loose splinters anywhere. Perfect for a bedroom. The light it gives off is soft and diffused, ideal for relaxing at night.

You can tell this was handmade with care. The finish on the bamboo is consistent and looks premium.

We put this in our sunroom. It blends perfectly with our indoor plants and the natural sunlight. Its very lightweight, which made installation a breeze. It hangs beautifully.

This is my favorite piece in the house. It brings a bit of nature indoors and feels very calming.
