For Squiggle, it was a spontaneous hand-drawn curve—loose, imperfect, and joyfully free.

Our designers wanted to preserve that moment of creative instinct. Not polished, not symmetrical. Just honest movement captured in a single stroke.
From this raw sketch came the idea of a lamp that twists like a ribbon caught in midair, turning light into a sculptural expression.

🖊️From Sketch to Form: Translating Emotion Into Structure

✏️The Hand-Drawn Sketch Phase

The journey began with dozens of loose contour sketches—thin lines, thick lines, curves that rose sharply, curves that softened gradually.
These drawings helped our designers explore how movement, rhythm, and spontaneity could translate into a three-dimensional silhouette.

Sketching allowed the team to capture the emotional essence of the Squiggle:
fluid, playful, unrestrained.

Only once the character of the curve felt authentic did the team move to the next stage.

💻The 3D Modeling Phase

Transforming an expressive sketch into a functional lighting piece required precise digital refinement.
Through 3D modeling, the team carefully adjusted:

• the height and proportions
• structural angles
• the thickness of each curve
• the balance between sculpture and stability

This technical stage ensured that the lamp didn’t just look beautiful—it stood securely, diffused light evenly, and maintained the organic movement that defined its identity.

🎨Three Colors, Three Interpretations of Calm & Warmth

To complement the Squiggle’s soft curves, Vakkerlight introduces three refined color options—each chosen to interact gently with pleated light diffusion:

• White — clean, minimal, effortlessly timeless
• Deep Green — rich, grounded, and sculptural
• Beige — warm, natural, and quietly sophisticated

Each color brings its own emotional atmosphere, allowing the lamp to shift from playful to elegant depending on the space.

Behind every Squiggle lamp is a surprisingly intricate production process—one that blends artisanal care with engineering precision.

Creating the lamp’s organic silhouette requires a series of controlled forming steps.
The metal body is bent gradually, in multiple stages, to avoid sharp angles or forced tension.
This ensures the curve feels as natural as the original sketch.

🌫️Finishing the Surface

Once shaped, each lamp body undergoes:

• fine sanding
• subtle edge rounding
• multiple layers of finishing to achieve a smooth, tactile feel

These steps allow the lamps to hold light gently rather than reflect it harshly.

📐Crafting the Pleated Shade

The pleated diffuser is another labor-intensive element:

• Each fold must be uniform to ensure balanced light spread
• The pleat angle is calibrated to soften the glow without diminishing brightness
• Materials are chosen for durability and warmth

This creates the signature “halo-like” illumination the Squiggle series is known for.
