The Kumo Paper Shade Table & Floor Lamp brings a warm sculptural glow to the room with its textured off-white paper shade, bamboo-silk structure, and slim black metal frame. Inspired by quiet Japanese-style lighting, each version diffuses light softly through the paper surface, creating a calm ambient layer for bedrooms, living rooms, reading corners, lounges, and relaxed home spaces.

Place the lamp on a stable, level surface before connecting it to power.
Uses an E27 screw-base bulb. A warm light bulb is included according to the selected version.
UF1-H works well on nightstands, side tables, shelves, and small reading corners.
UF2-H works well as a larger table lamp or low floor accent beside a sofa, bed, or lounge chair.
UF3-H is best for living rooms, bedrooms, reading areas, and larger corners that need a soft floor lamp glow.
Dust the paper shade gently with a soft dry cloth or feather duster. Keep away from water, steam, and damp cleaning.

It uses an E27 screw-base bulb. A warm light bulb is included with each version: 3W for UF1-H, 5.5W for UF2-H, and 13W for UF3-H.

What are the size options?

UF1-H measures 49 cm high with a 20.5 cm shade and 30 cm base width. UF2-H measures 61 cm high with a 30 cm shade and 43 cm base width. UF3-H measures 122 cm high with a 35 cm shade and 54 cm base width.

Is this a table lamp or a floor lamp?

The series includes both. UF1-H is a table lamp, UF3-H is a floor lamp, and UF2-H can work as a larger table lamp or a low floor accent depending on placement.

The Material Japanese Washi —
A Timeless Art

Washi is a traditional Japanese handmade paper crafted from natural plant fibres — kozo (mulberry), mitsumata, and gampi. The meticulous process of stripping, boiling, washing, and beating fibres into pulp, then forming and drying sheets on bamboo screens, yields paper both exceptionally strong and delicately translucent.

From fibre to finished glow — every stage of a paper lantern's creation is guided by trained hands, quiet focus, and generations of inherited knowledge.

Fibre Selection & Preparation

Raw kozo bark is stripped, boiled in ash-lye, and hand-washed to reveal pure, long-strand fibres ready for papermaking.

Sheet Formation

Fibres are beaten into pulp and suspended in water. A bamboo screen is dipped through the suspension, capturing an even, translucent layer of future paper.

Drying & Finishing

Sheets are carefully pressed and sun-dried on wooden boards. The result: paper of singular softness, strength, and warm translucency.

Frame Building & Wrapping

A bamboo or wood armature is assembled by hand. Washi sheets are layered, stretched, and shaped around the frame to form the lantern.

Hand-Painted Motifs

Artisans apply traditional patterns — brushstrokes of ink, botanical motifs, geometric forms — directly onto the washi surface. No two are identical.
