Every so often, and rarely I might add, I happen across a lamp design that is so thoroughly unique, I simply _do not know_ what it is I'm looking at! And _that_ is a wonderful experience. As a lamp designer with 35 years in the industry, it's terribly exciting to discover something so new. And the "Vakkerlight" is such a lamp design.
The body of the lamp is paired down to an elegantly proportioned, minimalist sculpture. The payday here, that is, the "King" of this design effort is the mysterious and evocative refracted light that spills out and across the wall like satin fabric. The design itself, that is, the body of the lamp, is a perfect example of "form following function"- Nothing extraneous. Nothing ornamental. Nothing that isn't absolutely critical to accomplishing it's task.
The lamp body, the lens and wall support is designed exclusively for the service of it's refracted light. The form of this evocative illumination op 9 is more like that of fabric- ethereal and somewhat otherworldly. Folds of overlapping illumination that can take innumerable forms.
This is an exceptional lamp design that truly stands out in a very, very crowded field.
It would appear most comfortable in a minimalist, contemporary environment. But because if it's simplicity, it would be enormously flexible. The "Vakkerlight" could be specified for many applications - residential, commercial, hospitality, liturgical and resort.
