From Sea to Light

The story of our shell lamps.

Indonesia-origin shells, naturally formed and expertly handcrafted. We begin with meticulously selected, imported shells sourced from Indonesia — each carefully washed, refined, and hand-polished to highlight its natural shape, thickness, translucence, and organic texture. No two shells are identical — their subtle variations give every Vakkerlight lamp its own authentic character and soul.

The Material

Iridescence, cultivated by the ocean.

For centuries, capiz, mother-of-pearl, and abalone have been treasured for the way they catch light — translucent, opalescent, never quite the same colour twice. No two shells are identical; no two lamps will ever cast exactly the same glow.

Every piece in this collection is hand-cut, hand-graded, and composed by skilled artisans — preserving the natural variation of the material as part of the design itself.

Handcrafted Elegance

Where craft meets light.

In our workshop, every shell lamp is composed by hand — not assembled by machine — until the rhythm of the piece feels alive, like waves gently moving on the shore.

01

Hand-Hung, Shell by Shell

Each shell is suspended individually — connected with small metal rings or transparent threads, never glued or pressed.
02

Adjusted by Eye, Not by Jig

Angles, spacing, and alignment are tuned by hand — every piece reviewed for the natural fall of light and form.
03

Rhythmically Organic

The result feels balanced and alive — composed, not mechanical. Each lamp carries the artisan's intention from the first shell to the last.

Why Shell Lamps

Beyond ordinary lighting.

What sets the shell collection apart isn't just material — it's the way each lamp lives in a space, the atmosphere it creates, and the quiet, organic presence it brings.

Unique

No two lamps are ever identical — each shell's pattern and translucence make every piece one-of-a-kind.

Versatile

Perfect for dining rooms, bedrooms, hallways or reading corners — bringing a coastal, natural vibe indoors.

Atmosphere

Soft light + gentle sound = a calming, poetic ambiance, like a wind chime but in light form.

A quiet shimmer across the room.

From coastal homes to city apartments, the shell collection brings a calm, oceanic light — luminous by day, atmospheric by evening, always elegant.

Crafted in Every Form

One material, every room.

From statement chandeliers to bedside table lamps — every fixture is hand-cut from the same Indonesia-origin shells, hand-assembled by skilled artisans, and finished to capture the same iridescent glow. Whatever the room, the language is consistent: natural, luminous, one-of-a-kind.

Beautiful, but...

It looks beautiful in the restaurant; the seashells sparkle under the lights. It would be even better if the chain were a little longer.

Worth it

I was a little worried about the price before, but now I think it's excellent value for money. It looks much more expensive than it actually is.

Obsessed

I really love hanging it in the bedroom.

Perfect!

We placed it in a small living room, and it became a nice visual focal point without being too obtrusive. It looks much better in person than in the photos.
