Original Design Series

Crafted from Nature,
Designed for Life

The Solid Wood Original Design Series is Vakkerlight's most considered collection — each piece an original design that could only be made from real wood. The grain, warmth, and weight of the material are intrinsic to every form.

"Wood remembers the tree it came from. We design to honour that memory."

From pendant lights that hang like sculpted branches to table lamps rooted in turned timber bases — four formats, one design language, and the enduring warmth of solid wood.

The Material

Premium Solid Wood —
No Two Pieces Alike

Every fixture is crafted from carefully selected premium solid wood — walnut, oak, ash, or teak sourced from sustainable forestry. The grain, colour variation, and wood character are part of the design, not imperfections to hide.

Species Available — Walnut, White Oak, American Ash, Teak; each with distinct grain character

Natural Finish — Oil-waxed or lacquered to preserve grain visibility and protect against humidity

Handworked Joints — Traditional tenon, dowel, and mortise joinery; each connection a structural statement

Sustainable Sourcing — FSC-certified timber from responsibly managed forests

How It's Made

The Art of
Wood Lighting

Each fixture passes through the hands of skilled woodworkers who understand how wood moves, breathes, and ages — and how to design lighting that works with those qualities, not against them.

Selection & Seasoning

Each board is assessed for grain quality and moisture content. Timber is kiln-dried to prevent future movement before entering the workshop.

Turning & Shaping

Forms are shaped on the lathe, routed, and hand-carved where the design demands it. Traditional joinery ensures strength without relying on adhesives alone.

Finishing & Wiring

Multiple coats of hand-applied oil or lacquer, sanded between each pass. Electrical components fitted by certified technicians and tested before shipping.

Quality Inspection

Every piece is lit, photographed, and measured before leaving. Natural character marks are noted and accepted as part of the piece's identity.

In the Home

Wood Light Transforms
Every Room

Natural wood creates warmth that no other material can replicate — in dining rooms, bedrooms, studies, and hallways. Each fixture anchors the space with organic presence and a glow that feels as old as fire itself.

Why Choose Wood Lighting

Six Reasons the
Wood Series is Different

Truly Original Design

Every silhouette is an original Vakkerlight design — not adapted from an existing style. Wood demands designs that respect its nature, not generic moulds.

No Two Pieces Identical

Natural grain, colour variation, and subtle figuring ensure that each fixture is genuinely unique — you own a one-of-a-kind object, not a numbered copy.

Ages Beautifully

Unlike metal or ceramic, solid wood deepens in colour over years of use. A ten-year-old walnut lamp is more beautiful than the day it arrived.

Warmth No LED Can Replace

Wood diffuses and absorbs light differently from glass or metal — even a cool-temperature bulb feels warmer through a wood fixture.

Sustainable by Nature

FSC-certified timber, minimal synthetic materials, and designs built to last a lifetime. The most sustainable lamp is one you never want to replace.

Custom Wood & Finish

Specify your wood species, desired finish, and cord colour. We accept bespoke dimension requests for architectural projects — contact us to discuss.
